"Treatment in accident and emergency department"

About: Victoria Hospital / Accident & Emergency

(as the patient),

Arrived at A&E on a Monday morning after a fall resulting in a fractured neck of femur.

The department was very quiet, there was no one waiting, but despite this I was left unattended behind a curtain for more than an hour without seeing a doctor. I was feeling shocked and frightened and very alone.

I might have laid there even longer but a friend arrived and insisted that someone should at least speak to me.

Later once I had been given intravenous morphine I was again left unattended behind a curtain for a long period.
