"My Laparoscopic Hernia Repair Operation."

About: Leighton Hospital

This relates to my Inguinal Hernia Repair operation. It is 50 years since I have been I a hospital so had a little apprehension about what to expect as it was also my first visit to Leighton Hospital. I need not have worried, for having arrived early morning at the treatment centre I received nothing but outstanding and excellent care. Preoperative areas were pleasant, clean and manned by a very competent and sympathetic nursing staff who although very busy are well organised and proficient. A nice touch was the visit of my anaesthetist, and consultant who explained what was about to happen to me. This all contributed to a feeling of being in capable hands. Post op routines were all conducted smoothly and efficiently - thanks for the toast and tea. Unfortunately after the operation and despite drinking profuse amounts of tea, I had a delay in passing urine, so had to remain in a ward overnight. The ward staff were equally first class, fortunately my urine started to flow late evening and through the night (given the amount I drank) so was in a position to be discharged the next day. My operation was completely successful, I am back to all my usual activities without ill effect and have tiny scars due to the laparoscopic repair method used. There was little discomfort or pain afterwards and I am thank, and am extremely grateful for the excellent care and attention provided by all members of the medical staff. I am very happy therefore to recommend the Leighton Treatment centre and Hospital without reservation

We are very grateful that you have taken the time and trouble to contact us regarding the treatment and care you received when admitted to the Treatment centre and a ward overnight. We will ensure that your feedback is given to the relevant teams. Staff are delighted to hear when patients feel that they have been well looked after and they will be pleased to read such lovely feedback. Thank you again Matron Helen Nutkins
