My consultant and his fellow consultant is and has always been absolutely wonderful, providing me with great treatment, and following the admittance procedure understood my distress. The attitude of reception staff and nurses standing at recepton was indifferent and rude. Patients were made to feel they were an inconvenience and were given no privacy when going through the admittance procedure including when changing into a gown despite men and women being admitted. The waiting room was gloomy and far too small. The receptionist 'ordered' partners to stand in the corridor (despite the fact there were chairs for them) - and it was evident that some patients were very anxious. Following my operation, which went well and I am very satisfied with, there was not a bed for me in the Treatment Centre - so I was left for hours on an uncomfortable bed in recovery. When finally transferred to the Treatment Centre it took over an hour and five requests to different nurses before I was given a drink of water. Thank goodness my husband arrived and he was able to help me to the bathroom - as no one else was available, I felt terrible and fainted. Cleanliness in the toilet/showers was poor. Next day it was clear I had to vacate my bed quickly and I would need to sit on a chair for my prescription - I was told this would take at least two hours. I rang my husband to collect me as I just needed to go to bed - such a relief to get home.
