"Progesterone Levels"

About: Ninewells Hospital / Gynaecology

(as the patient),

My husband and I have been trying for a baby for over a year and were at the stage of going to the infertility clinic. Before this appointment I had to get a blood test done to check my progesterone levels, which came back 18. 8nmol/L, which after researching quite a lot found this is quite low (the test was done 7 days after ovulation)

It turns out I am pregnant but still concerned about these levels as I know low progesterone levels can cause miscarriage. I visited my GP and asked her about this who advised me they would not treat me for this and had to just wait and see how the pregnancy turned out.

I know that if you have this some people get treated with progesterone tablets or suppositories so was wondering why I have been told that I need to just wait and see if my pregnancy will be viable or not.
