"lack of diabetes care"

About: Royal Hampshire County Hospital / Diabetic medicine

(as the patient),

I had not even seen a doctor about my very unstable diabetes for about 2 years since due to their lack of care I was involved in a bad car accident when I had one of many hypoglycaemic attacks. I received no support with this even though I now know that I should have been advised not to drive at the time. I have no confidence in those that should be providing my care. My blood sugars have become worse and worse so finally after 2 years of having no care I asked for help. They say there is no funding for a pump and continuous monitor which I need. They agree my diabetes is so unstable it would be the best thing to help me. I asked for help many times recently for education to improve the dose adjustment of insulin I need to do and dietary advice. They say they cannot help me. I've just found out im pregnant which means to have a good outcome my blood sugars need to be stable, under control and near perfect or I'll end up with a damaged or dead baby because of my unstable diabetes.

The clinic appointments do not help and waste my time and in my opinion are only their to provide their funding (ie: more funding, the more patients seen in clinic). What is the point in a diabetes sevice which does not listen to, or help their diabetic patients. I dont want a pointless clinic appointment I want a insulin pump and continous glucose monitor and enough education to help me function on a daily basis without constant erratic and unpredictable swings of my blood sugars.
