"A&E Visit"

About: Sunderland Royal Hospital

I visited A&E via ambulance on the evening of Boxing Day 2013. Although I was in a lot of pain and struggling to breathe and the out of hours emergency team had advised I needed to attend A&E I was reluctant to do so given the publicity around inappropriate attendances. The staff were excellent, very professional and attentive and reassured me that I had acted appropriately and never once was I made to feel I shouldn't be there. I was assessed, x-rayed and observed all very efficiently and managed very well clinically whilst being treated with empathy throughout. As this is my local hospital I was delighted with the level of care I received and wouldn't hestitate to recommend CHS to my friends and family. Well done CHS, in these times of often adverse publicity I am proud you are my hospital.

Thank you for your very kind comments and 5 star rating. We are delighted you were pleased with the quality of care you received from our Emergency Department, and be assured that whilst the NHS as a whole is asking the public to think about using the other facilities available to them to help ensure the most serious of cases can be seen quickly in the Emergency Department, at no time should you feel reluctant to attend our hospital, particularly if you have been advised to do so by healthcare advisor. We hope you are now fully recovered. If you haven't already done so, we would be grateful if you could complete the Friends and Family Test question via the Trust's website at www.chsft.nhs.uk . Thank you.
