"Cost cutting waste of time."

About: Northwick Park Hospital

I attended the A&E on Saturday night with severe lower abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting and vaginal bleeding. I first went to St Mary's A & E where i was told they would not treat non life threatening emergencies, so i then drove all the way to Harrow because I was told by the NHS hotline that they have a gynecology services at the A&E there. On arrival I told the doctor and nurses I suspected that I maybe had some sort of non sexual infection as the pain was localized in that specific area. My bloods and urine sample were then taken and was told it is very unlikely I had an infection as the bloods and urine showed nothing. 2 Hours later they then gave me a paracetamol IV and anti nausea pills. I told them my concerns that this will not treat the problem and simply mask the symptoms and that I wanted to see the gynecologist who was on duty at the time. The doctor then went away then came back and told me that he had spoken to the gynecologist on the phone and she had said that due to the unlikeliness that there was an infection and that the bleeding wasn't "severe" she wouldn't see me! Im certainly no doctor, but if someone walked in and has a very painful throat then the doctor would look inside the throat, and then surely its the same principal would be the same for me and my "area" right? The doctor then gave me the details for the sexual health clinic which opened the following Monday and told me I might want to get checked out, even though he thinks there is no infection, but he still gave me no answer to why i was bleeding, in pain and vomiting. Just a shrug of the shoulders and some pain killers! So I spent 5 hours here and ended up leaving with no diagnosis. I could have simply stayed at home and taken paracetamol and would have still had the same outcome as visiting here! So after 48 hours of unnecessary pain, bleeding and vomiting, i was seen by a gynecologist in a clinic in central London and within a minute of an internal examination she confirmed i had a severe non sexual infection and was astounded how i could be walking in so much pain and promptly given a strong dose of antibiotics. As a taxpayer im disgusted at my treatment by this hospital. I spent 48 hours suffering severe pain and vomiting out of a combination of the laziness of certain staff here, the shoddy in-house referral procedures and NHS cost cutting. Thanks Northwich Park Hospital, nice to see the tax payers money hard at work!
