"Could not have been better"

About: Western Isles Hospital / Trauma & orthopaedics

(as the patient),

My pre op assessment assured me that I was in good hands and alleviated any fears I had.

I felt the entire procedure was a well thought out plan involving doctors, nurses, theatre staff, both physiotherapists and occupational therapists as well as the community nurses. The plan also included my transport home.

At all times I was kept well informed of procedures. This gave me a very positive attitude towards my operation.

During this time all medical and ancillary staff I met with were true professionals, caring and friendly.

The standard of care I received was excellent, the best possible. It could not have been better.

It’s now up to me to keep going with my exercises!

The shower unit within the ward could be improved

Dear Happy granny

It is always great to hear how our staff are continuing to deliver excellent service to patients and working well with other teams within the Orthopaedic Service. We will look at the shower unit and see what improvements can be made. I will share your story with the nurses and healthcare assistants on Surgical Ward and I'm sure they will really appreciate your comments.

Thank you again,

Frances Robertson

Update posted by Happy granny (the patient)

Following me completing Patient Opinion I should maybe make my concerns about the shower in the ward clearer.

Maybe a push button rather than a dial control would be easier to use. Also the water gathered on the floor, not in the actual shower area but on the drying area, this was not a fault of the draining system, that water was still there the next morning.
