My mother spent the last week since admission on Thursday 2nd Jan moving from ACU to Ward 22, finally released on Friday 10th. Jan
I understand she was diagnosed with a viral gastroenteritis.
She had only previously been released from Ward 27 on only Dec 20th, having spent some time correcting her known ischemic heart condition.
My complaint concerns her release.
Despite asking to be informed when she would be released, (my mobile number was recorded by staff on W22), no one called me.
The decision to send her home was made during Friday 10th, but awaiting her perscription lead to the unavailability of any ambulance transport to home.
A taxi was provided. My mother only came into hospital in her night clothes. Only a blanket was provided.
The heartless taxi driver dropped her off some 25 yrds from Homespray House entrance.
Considering she is 90, and had suffered considerably over the past few weeks he offered communication and no assistance from the taxi to the doorway.
She was left to walk with her bags on a wet and dark night alone in her night clothes
This is totally unacceptable!
As her only son living > 200 miles from the Wirral you can imagine the diffulty of communication.
