"Same-sex accommodation"

About: Hexham General Hospital

Whilst this is considered PC, it is very unpleasant to have to have ladies and gents toilet facilties shared. Why can't they be separated please - especially when the facilities are not cleaned sufficiently well to cope with the numbers using them.

Dear Sir / Madam, Thank you for your review. Many of the rooms at Hexham are single rooms, but each ward does have designated bathrooms for male and female patients, and the signs on the doors are changed if there are an increase in male / female patients at any given time to provide single sex bathrooms and toilet facilities. I apologise if this was not explained to you during your stay and I'm also very sorry that we failed to keep the facilities clean enough for you - this is very disappointing to hear when cleanliness is so important to us and we take the time every week to ask patients to rate us on these standards. we know how much they matter. I wasn't able to determine which ward you were on during your stay due to the anonymous nature of the post but I would be grateful if you could share this information with me so that I can feedback to the relevant staff concerned. My email is annie.laverty@nhct.nhs.uk With best wishes and thanks, Annie
