"Accurate information in notes and Discharge Letter"

About: Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Orthopaedics Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Xrays & Scans

(as a relative),

Discharge Letter says my mum went to GP after 2wk history of pain and GP sent her for X Ray and found a fractured Hip.

But in fact she had pain - Went to GP who diagnosed strained muscle

Went back after 2wks asked for XRay, XRay on Fri midday.

Following Monday GP called to say it was a fractured hip and needed surgery.

The XRay took too long to be done and resulted. This is the second time mum has had a fracture misdiagnosed.

Mum would never complain about the NHS but I feel the misdiagnosis should have been noted to prevent it happening again.

I am not looking forward to treatment when I am old

Hi, I hope your mum is making a good recovery. Thanks for bringing this important issue to our attention. It would be very useful if you could let me know where your mum was discharged from so that we can make some improvments in relation to discharge information.

You can contact me directly by email- arlian.mallis@nhs.net or post this information on this site.

I look forward to hearing from you

Many thanks

Arlian
