"uncaring and cruel way to tell my sister of her death."

About: Sunderland Royal Hospital / General medicine

(as a relative),

My sister was in cancer ward and very ill, I was visiting her with my daughter, and her husband was there.

during this visit a consultant came into ward, with all visitors in, they just pulled the curtain around the bed, and told then that there was nothing else they could do for her, just make her comfortable, and she had either a few days or weeks to live they did'nt know for sure, but she would have to go to a hospice or home.

I could'nt believe how cruel he was, and unfeeling. We were all devastated.

We are extremely sorry to hear that such news was broken to your sister and your family in such a way. This is certainly not what we would expect and we would like to look into this further for you. Could you please contact the PALS Team at pals@chsft.nhs.uk if you would like us to pick this up for you urgently.
