"very poor service"
About: Cumberland Infirmary Cumberland Infirmary Carlisle CA2 7HY
I broke my leg whilst on holiday abroad. My initial treatment in France was excellent and I was allowed back home with instructions to attend my local hospital for them to take over my care. I went to the cumberland infirmary, complete with a pot on my leg, and handed them the copies of my x/rays and doctors report from the hospital in france. I was told that I couldn't be seen by a doctor until the french hospital notes had been translated. I waited for a couple of hours in increasing discomfort before being told that it might take up to a week before my notes could be translated! This was absolutely ridiculous, so with the use ofmy ipad and google translate, undertook the translation myself. What a surprise to find that the records simply said I'd fractured my leg and they had put a pot on it and would the doctor in england please take over the care. Why on earth could the staff simply taken my word as to what had happened and with the help of an x-ray, decided for themselves what to do. After all, if I'd broken my leg in Carlisle and pitched up at A&E this is what the would have done. And another thing, the building is dirty and the wheelchairs are an absolute disgrace. They are dirty with ripped seating and none of them had an elevated leg-rest to allow me to keep my foot up. My wife had to accompany me round to the x/ray department holding my leg off the floor - utterly pathetic.
