I have a fracture to my right thumb from a boxing injury, and was given a poorly fitted splint that fell apart after a couple of weeks. I rang the outpatients department and the lady on the phone told me to go to A&E and hung up on me. Not wanting to bother A&E as it was not an emergency i ploded on until my appointment which was wednesday the 8th of Jan 2014. As soon as i walked in there was a notice saying my Doctor had 102 appointments and is running 3 hours late. An hour and a half after my appointment time I was seen for 1 minute and had an argument with the doctor regarding poor advice, he refused to listen and sent me for an xray which took another 2 hours for a 10 second xray. 30 minutes later the doctor told me my fracture has not fused and he was discharging me to a physio. Confused and angry i saw the physio who also was annoyed that i was so easily discharged with a fully broken thumb still and he was not sure what to do as my break was still a problem. Overall the care and treatment was terrible, the waiting time was ridiculous and it cost me £8 just to get out of the car park. I now have to return on Friday to try to be referred back to the Doctor as i have an unfixed break that the doctor has said is unlucky as my window of it healing is now gone so he will not advise me anymore.
