"I had my gallbladder removed (lap ..."

About: Royal Bournemouth General Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

I had my gallbladder removed (lap chole) at Bournemouth hospital on July 28th and I cannot praise all of the staff I encountered enough. I was extremely nervous for the op and found it particularly hard to attend as I suffer from agoraphobia, panic attacks and anxiety. The way they looked after me from beginning to end was to the highest standard and made the whole process a lot easier. On the day I was so nervous to the point of tears but the anaesthetist gave me something to calm my nerves before the operation so I wasn’t expected to just ‘get on with it’ which was a huge help. Every nurse who came to check on me at all times of day and night introduced themselves. The anaesthetic team were also brilliant and the recovery department that helped to control any pain. The nurses after the op were extremely helpful with pain management or help to the bathroom etc – both the day and night nurses - to be honest everybody was so nice that I don’t think I have ever met so many lovely people all in one place! The hospital ward I stayed at overnight (ward 12) was very clean and I was impressed at the nurses not only changing but cleaning all the beds (and this was late at night too!). So all in all I cannot recommend Royal Bournemouth Hospital highly enough now, the care was superb. Thank You :)
