I was referred from out of area to the Urology team at Salisbury Hospital in September last year after having had complications with surgery that was done at another NHS hospital. I have to say that I was sceptical about seeing another consultant after the prior treatment I had received from the other NHS hospital but maintained a positive attitude on the basis that I couldn't do any worse than what I had already gone through. From the first step into the urology clinic to meeting my consultant and his team I was totally overwhelmed by the genuineness of the people I met. It has been the first time that I have actually felt like a human with regards to the way that I was treated for a very long time. I cannot explain the feeling of being treated like a person instead of a number, the care and compassion of the staff throughout the hospital, from the anethatists to the recovery room nurses, the ward nurses, cleaning staff, the whole lot. There is a total culture of caring and compassion in the hospital, there is teamwork, yes, not everything always goes smoothly, but I was 100% involved in my care and the decisions that were made. Over the course of two months I had to have a further two operations to remedy the complications that I presented with so I have had the full tour of the hospital, from the urology clinic to the theatres and wards. I felt that my dignity was totally respected and that the staff were understanding, compassionate and caring... there's that word again...... caring! I wish I could say more, you guys have done a brilliant job, you should all be commended for your efforts, you so deserve it. I would like to make a special mention about my consultant and his Urology team, I have never met anyone as sincere and caring, Sir, I take my hat off to you, you are an amazing man, thank you so much for everything that you have done for me. To the rest of the urology team, once again "Thank you" all for all your efforts and support, I really appreciate it. In closing I would just like to thank you all, maybe you don't know it, but not only have you restored my faith in the NHS, you have also changed my life for the better.....forever. Thank you.
""Thank you""
