Over the last year I have had to attend a number of outpatient clinics. The doctors and nurses did everthing possible to help diagnose my condition. I do think that the way departments organise themselves could be looked at further.
For example:
- Even though the consultant said when he next wanted to see me the appointment I was given was later than he suggested.
- Some clinics call you through on time but sometimes you get called through to another waiting area, where I've been delayed by up to 1 hour.
- One day I had an appointment for 2 separate clinics. My medical records were sent to the afternoon clinic which meant I had a long delay at my morning appointment, because they couldn't find my records. More communication between the departments is needed.
