"Extremely fast treatment for son's broken arm"

About: Colchester General Hospital

My son Sam had an accident at his school in Thorpe on Monday 25th November at 11am+/- during a rugby lesson. We received the call from school at 11.25am telling us that he had hurt his arm and that we needed to get him checked at hospital. We arrived to collect Sam at 11.45 (we live in Harwich) and phoned Harwich hospital to find out whether we should go directly to Colchester. They told us to bring him to Harwich where the x-ray dept would be open until 12.30. We arrived at 12.15pm and were seen within 15 minutes. Sam was checked over by the nurse and was sent for x-rays. Following the diagnosis that he had broken his wrist, the nurse put a plaster cast on immediately. We were at the hospital for a total of 1 hour only. During the time that the plaster was being put on Sam's arm, the receptionist was organising an appointment at the fracture clinic in Colchester which was arranged for the following day at 3.50pm. The following day, we arrived promptly for the appointment, and were seen immediately by the doctor. He spent time talking to Sam explaining the "buckle fracture" that he had, and we were then told to wait to have a new plaster cast. Again, we were seen straight away. We left at 4.10pm with a new plaster cast ... 20 minutes from beginning to end! The total time spent at both hospitals was 1 hour 20 minutes! Thank you so much,
