"Endoscopy Unit at The Royal Glamorgan"

About: The Royal Glamorgan Hospital

(as the patient),

I was recently referred by my local GP for an Endoscopy at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital in South Wales.

I was extremely apprehensive about having the procedure and seriously considered not attending the appointment at all. I was dreading the experience and thought it would be embarrassing and painful.

On my arrival at the unit, the staff we welcoming and friendly. A nurse sat me down and explained fully what would happen during the procedure and made sure I was comfortable. She really helped me to relax and reassured me that the procedure would not be as bad as I had first thought.

During the procedure the nurses were very kind and helped me to relax with breathing exercises to minimize the pain and discomfort. They talked me through every step of the procedure and assured me that everything looked normal and there was no cause for concern.

I'm really grateful to the staff at the Unit for being so kind and helping to keep me calm. They were great from the moment i arrived until i left. They constantly checked i was o.k and feeling comfortable, and that any questions i had were answered.

Thank you to all at the unit!
