"Pain management department waiting time is a joke"

About: Chesterfield Royal Hospital

I have been in chronic pain for 3 years. After refusing to go to chesterfield royal due to past care being awful, I finally decided to go there and be treated by their pain department as kings mill were constantly failing to send results out and didn't really seem to know what they were doing. Chesterfield royal have been very good at listening to and following up on shoddy procedures done elsewhere and I do seem to be moving forward with them but very very slowly. Every set of results is taking 2 months to be sent out and then referrals to other departments are for months down the line :( I first went to the pain management department in September 2013 where I have had several tests and they have determined there is a problem. However I am on no pain meds now as they wanted to be sure what they were treating (I still don't know) the pain has escalated to unbearable and days and nights are spent in horrendous agony. After meeting with the consultant for the first time I came out feeling very positive that they would do there very best to try and help me and I have no doubt that this will be the case eventually. He asked me to make another appointment following my first visit as the notes had not arrived from kings mill and we were struggling to piece together what their pain clinic had done and why. bear in mind that was sept 2013. I made the appointment March 7TH 2014!!! My heart sank. The symptoms have escalated and I can now no longer work and all I'm told is I have to ring my doctors and get her to write to the pain clinic and ask to be put on there cancellations list (me and 5000 others) it's a joke.
