I was recently referred to the Trauma clinic. This was due to repeated problems I had with my right achillies tendon. I was expecting an initial referral, a return to the hospital in 6-8 weeks for X rays and a further delay for ultra sound scans. To say on the day i was surprised at my treatment is an under statement. On arrival I was immediately sent for X rays. On return to the trauma clinic I was then taken for an ultra sound scan. Throughout the physio informed me of the condition of my heel. 1/2 an hour later was seen by the consultant in conjunction with the ultra sound physio. My treatment was discussed and the option of shock treatment was discussed and agreed. I was amazed at the speed of my diagnosis. Many years I had similar problems and the treatment took weeks to finalise. My heel is a constant pain, making walking difficult and exercise virtually impossible. In less than 2 hours the Good Hope Hospital department have identified the source of my problem, a treatment route and left me happy that my problem will soon be sorted. After all the bad press the NHS receives, I thank you for the way in which I was dealt with.
