"Long wait for appointment at DRI"

About: Doncaster Royal Infirmary / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as the patient),

I had been suffering with a trapped nerve in my shoulder, which my GP treated for 3 weeks with medication. Although it gave me initial relief, it was not getting any better, and so he decided to refer me to the Doncaster Royal Infirmary. Upon attending my appointment there, I had to repeat what my GP had said in the referral letter and was then sent for an x-ray. I was told that I would be sent a letter telling me the results of the x-ray and that another appointment would be organised for me then. However, it was not until 4 weeks later that DRI rang me to arrange an appointmen, but by then my shoulder had worked itself better. I never received any results about the x-ray either.

I was not happy with how long I had to wait before another appointment was made for me and with the fact that I never received the result of my x-ray. My GP, however, was brilliant.
