"It started badly when we arrived at maternity and..."

It started badly when we arrived at maternity and the person on reception rudely said, loud enough to hear, "oh no, here are some more". We checked in at 6.10 pm when my wife went into labour and it was not until 7.05 pm that we were finally led out of the reception area and into a room - unfortunately this was just a small cupboard and while it had a bed it was not at all suitable for how it was being sued. At 7.15pm we had a cursory visit from the midwife who complained that she had three other patients on the go and that if we urgently needed something to use the red button. We were not in a maternity room, we were in a cupboard and, as a result, there was no pain relief available. We asked multiple times for pain relief but none was forthcoming. Funnily enough, despite the fact they were busy there appears to be an awful lot of nurses gathered around having a chat throughout.... Finally we were moved into a room where pain relief was available. The midwife we eventually got was lovely but the whole place is far far too busy, they do not have enough rooms or staff available and to be met like that was a disgrace.
