"Appalled by lack of care!"

About: Manchester Royal Infirmary

Very concerned about my son's current treatment. Asked to speak to someone at 3pm and was told I had to speak to the nurse in charge. I was told she was busy with a patient and would see me as soon as possible. In 2 hours she never came to see me despite my going to the nurse's station 4 times, each time being told she would come. Very concerned that my son has been given penicillin antibiotics despite the fact he informed staff that he'd recently had a severe reaction. He's currently being fed by a tube. Was fed at 9am but had still been given nothing more at 5pm.(No IV fluids or vitamins) These had been taken down without explanation. Was told he could have hydrocortisone as this has previously been successful. Without explanation offered prednisolone (to which he's had severe side effects in the past.) so he refused to take them. So he has been given no treatment and again no explanation for the change. Tried speaking to a junior doctor on the ward, he told us this was a 'day team' problem and he couldn't help. Very worried having to leave my son (I have a 20 mile drive) knowing he may not be fed until tomorrow. There is no signal on the ward so I can't phone him.
