"Bladder tumour removal Operation cancelled 4 times..."

About: Leicester General Hospital

This is the worst treatment i have heard of! My fathers bladder operation has been cancelled for time up until 08/11/13! God knows how many more times they will call to reschedule! Im not sure what the first excuse was but the second one was that there was no staff. The third one was that the hospital beds were used for the Olympics and not given back (didnt they know this the day before?!) and now the fourth excuse is that there is a shortage of the right staff with th right skills to carry out the operation! I also work for the NHS and i know what its like but when i schedule a clinic and i know im inviting a patient that has been previously cancelled before, i make sure they ARE SEEN asap and that my clinician i skilled, ready and definately absolutely available! You are playing with peoples lives here! Cancer is not something that you can diagnose and just leave. Metastatic changes are happening all the time. Things may get worse! How do you know you will face the same thing on the operating table as you did in the assessment? I demand an answer to this or this is going to the local MP and Press!

Hi there, Thank you for taking time to post your comment. I'm really sorry to hear that your father's operation has been cancelled so many times. This is completely unacceptable and I would now like to investigate further as a matter of urgency. Please could you send me your father's full name, patient/NHS number, address and date of birth? My email address is: Phil.Walmsley@uhl-tr.nhs.uk. Kind regards, Phil Walmsley Head of Operations Leicester's Hospitals
