"Poor aftercare from QMC Day Surgery"

About: Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust - Queen's Medical Centre Campus / General surgery

(as the patient),

I was a patient in the Day Surgery at the Queen's Medical Centre for a laparoscopic inguinal hernia repair. On the whole, I would say that I was pleased with my experience, as I feel that I was treated as a person and not a number.

However, when I was preparing to leave, one of the glued stitches gave way and the wound opened and started bleeding. In response to this, the staff did not put new stitches in, but just applied a dressing and sterastrips (this lasted about 1 hour). Having then replaced these strips several times by myself at home, I phoned the Day Surgery and was told by them to contact my doctor or the NHS Walk-In Centre.
