"Fantastic experience - QEH Maternity"

Sep 2013 - I was induced at 42 weeks pregnant at QEH. As an induction can be such a long process, I was very apprehensive however I can honestly say the team of midwives at QEH are brilliant. I was monitored every 6 hours at first once the 24 hour pessary was inserted, and more reguarly as soon as I started proper contractions and as dilating had increased. Once I was moved to delivery suite I had a dedicated midwife with me all the time, sometimes even two. My time in delivery suite was over 16 hours so I can honestly say the care and attention to detail was second to none. I can also say this of the anaesthetist as I had an epidural in the end to help with the pain relief. My whole induction process took roughly 56 hours. Some comments on here are negative about security and visiting hours for partners however I found that when I asked or my husband asked to stay, as long as a midwife had approved this then this was fine with security. Also, but for the restrictions on other peoples comings and goings I would not have gotten much sleep at all through a very long process. The care after my son's birth was fantastic and although I wanted to get home as soon as I could, I was advised to stay in an additional night as I had a suspected infection and they wanted to monitor me a bit further. Once again, another step to say that the care was outstanding. I would not hesitate to have my next baby at QEH
