I live in edinburgh and i gave birth to my first baby in December last year after a horrific 25 hour labour ending with an emergency c-section, as i am only very petite at 4ft 11inches and my son was a massive 10lb 3oz!
Although the labour was terrible i feel the midwifery staff were great, they couldn't have been nicer even offering my partner food, cups of tea and some pillows and a blanket so he could nap if he needed to. After i had my son in the ward with me the care from the staff was constant, i had my bed changed regularly as i was leaking quite badly as they said i had a lot of fluid as my baby was so big.
The toilets and showers were clean and the care even continued up until minutes before i left the hospital on new years day with my midwife asking if she could put my son in the car seat and fasten him in. she said "as i have cared for him 2day i would like my care to continue when u leave, making sure your baby is safe until you get home", and with a hug and a goodbye we left with a good aftercare experience.
