"Broken bone in foot"

About: Royal Blackburn Hospital

In total from 2.25 am on Sunday morning I waited 11 hours in hospital . I have to applaud the staff in A&E they were great. It's just so sad we all have to wait for such a long time. It does get quite distressing. Once the results came that I had broken foot I then had to wait 5 hours for physio to give me info on how to use stairs with crutches. I've rang fracture clinic this morning and no answer only to leave message. I'm in agony/ not slept. Just want to know if this is normal!

Thank you for leaving a comment on the NHS Choices website. We are very sorry that your visit to our Trust was not to the standard that you expected as we did experience long waits at the weekend but I cannot understand why it took so long to get physio to issue crutches and show you how to use stairs. This is a relatively uncomplicated procedure which could have been carried out by a member of the nursing team. I would be happy to look into it further if you could pass on your detail, please could you contact our PALs team either by email to PALS@elht.nhs.uk or via the free- phone number 0800 5872586. This will enable us to fully investigate your long waiting period and provide you with feedback regarding this. In terms of your discomfort if you are in a great deal of pain you are welcome to return to the department or if you have wish to contact me I would be happy to speak to you.
