My mum was taken by ambulance to the Conquest at around midnight. She had been ill on and off for several weeks including one previous emergency trip to the conquest. On arrival she was quickly assessed and made comfortable. Living a substantial distance from the hospital I telephoned and was immediately put through to the doctor treating her who was curtious and professional. He respected the reasons behind the Non-Resuscitation order she had previously made and both my mother and father were treated with compassion and dignity. She passed away very comfortably with my father at her side. We were given plenty of time to say our good byes and the nurses were compassionate and helpful. We had to telephone the next day regarding certifying her death and the things were explained clearly so we could understand the processes to come.
