"Maternity"

About: West Middlesex University Hospital

Overall I was really happy with the service I received in the labour ward and natural birth centre at West Mid. The staff were friendly and supportive and when I needed an emergency c-section they were very calm and took time to explain everything to me. I felt that I was in very safe hands. The post natal ward was a slightly different experience. The ward seemed understaffed and therefore the staff that were on duty didn't seem to have alot of time to spend with each new mum. The cleanliness left a lot to be desired. In the 3 days that I was in there were 2 toilets out of order and the toilet that was working was not clean. Worst of all the toilet did not have any toilet roll which I would have thought was a fairly basic requirement. Every time I went (armed with my own tissues) I spoke to a member of staff to let them know but no one seemed to take responsibility for it. However the level of care I was given before I was discharged was excellent and everything was well explained. A shame that basic sanitary requirements were overlooked.
