"Lack of nurses"

About: Southmead Hospital

I was a regular patient at south mead hospital, the nurses work very hard, but the managers are making it impossible for the nursing staff to deliver care in a safe ward there were at most times only 2 nurses to 26 patients on some shifts only one nurse this is not safe the nurses are working 12 hour shifts with no breaks and no thanks they are tired

Dear Anonymous – thank you for taking the time and trouble to post details of your experience of Respiratory Medicine at Southmead Hospital; I am sorry that you felt the environment was not safe. It would be helpful to have your details, or at the very least details of the ward you were on, so that action can be taken to look into your concerns and make any necessary changes that might be required to ensure the high standards of patient care and satisfaction that the Trust expects can be achieved. Could you please supply any information to assist us in this to complaints@nbt.nhs.uk quoting NHS Choices, to allow us to take immediate action. If there were any specific aspects of your stay that you were unhappy with I will also be happy to investigate these on your behalf. Thank you again for your views – Steve Sykes Advice and Complaints Team
