"Cataract Removal"

I attended Leigh Infirmary for removal of a cataract and to have a 'new' plastic-type lens inserted...and all by local anaesthetic...needless to say, I was absolutely petrified at the thought of my pending 'ordeal' and had sleepless nights worrying as I was hoping for a General Anaesthetic being the coward that I am - But I needn't have worried at all. I arrived at 8am on the morning of my "major" operation. I went up to the ward...the nurses were great and put me at ease...the pep-talk with the anaesthetist was reassuring and once I had the numbing drops in my eye and was taken to theatre I didn't feel a thing...I even had a nurse holding my hand throughout for reassurance. The surgeon was brilliant and my op went without any problems and after a couple of hours I was allowed home. If I ever need to have another cataract op on my other eye do you think I will still worry...? Yes I will... but nowhere near as much knowing how painless the procedure was and well all the hospital staff looked after me...every one a gem...thank you Leigh Infirmary.
