"Family members traumatic stay"

About: Watford General Hospital

A family member recently stayed at this hospital for about 2 weeks. During this time they were moved 5 times. I have mixed feelings really as the hospital did diagnose the issues which were life threatening and I will be forever grateful, however some of the staff were rude, disrespectful and quite frankly in the wrong job. I in the process of making a formal complaint about these individuals and believe that they give the hospital a bad name which seems unfair on those who really help, support and offer compassion to patients and their families. I hope the hospital makes some much needed changes in this area otherwise this hospital will be featured on a watch dog style show!

Response from Watford General Hospital

Thank you for taking the time and trouble to comment on your family members’ difficult experience at Watford General. We’re always concerned to hear of any patients or family members who are unhappy with the care and service they have received, and issues of this nature are taken very seriously. Without full details of their specific case and our commitment to patient confidentiality it is difficult to comment here. But the importance of a wholly positive, and dignified, patient experience is one of our key objectives, and the issue of good communication between our staff and patients is a fundamental area we’re working hard to improve in. Anything contrary to this is completely unacceptable. We sincerely apologise that you feel that this did not happen in your case whilst they were in our care. If you have now submitted a formal complaint, we know that our senior clinical colleagues will be thoroughly investigating this on your behalf, so we can look into what went wrong, and why. We will be in touch shortly.
