"Uncomfortable on ward at DRI"

About: Doncaster Royal Infirmary / Respiratory medicine

(as the patient),

I have had my right lung removed at the Doncaster Royal Infirmary, as it had become cancerous. I was in a three bed ward and the other two beds were occupied by prisoners who were handcuffed by a long chain to prison officers. This I did not like and my wife found it very disturbing when she visited me.

I read with interest your concern at being with prisoners in a bay, following surgery to remove your lung at Doncaster Royal Infirmary. I urge you to contact the Patient Advice and Liaison Service at the Hospital, who will be able to express your concerns to the appropriate people, by phone 0800 028 8059 or email
