I saw a consultant aroundJuly last year after a referral from my GP I was unable to straighten the little finger on my right hand, this happened suddenly. They did not know what had happened to my finger so sent me for an ultrasound scan. While I was waiting for this appointment, the same thing happened to my ring finger. The scan revealed that the extensor tendons had ruptured, probably due to the fact that I have Rheumatoid Arthritis. At my follow up appointment, I was told that nothing could be done, and that I still could grip with my fingers and they said that is all you need your fingers for. They made me feel that I was wasting their time. They did ask if I wanted a referral to City Hospital which I did, and so on May 13th after a year, I finally had surgery to repair the tendons, so I do not understand why I was told that nothing could be done. I got the impression that they could not be bothered!
