"Excellent care, very grateful!"

About: St George's Hospital (Tooting) (London)

I was admitted to Neurology ward just after Xmas 2012 after getting to the A&E having symptoms of progressive muscle weakness over the previous 2-3 weeks. Had a bit of problem initially due to lack of staff and sent back home the first time with a consultation appointment scheduled a week later. However on getting worse and a lot waiting around in the A&E the next day as eventually admitted to the acute ward and then on to Neurology. I sensed a bit of reluctance getting me in and had a feeling I was regarded as another time waster (barring my consultant should say) . But once my condition (GBS) was eventually diagnosed in the new year, things moved really quickly and the care was top notch. My consultant patiently explained my diagnosis, treatment options and above all provided much needed assurance. The nurses were really caring and amazing the way they took care of patients who were unable to tend themselves (luckily I was still able to) with compassion. The follow-up consultations and outpatients day care staff were great as well when I had to return for additional infusions. I'm very grateful for the care I received from St Georges and can't thank enough the doctors, nurses and all the staff. Thank you!
