"Neurolgy Department"

About: Medway Maritime Hospital

Recently there has been a poor continuity of care; Neurology department seems to be in total disarray. Locum Consultants and lack of clerical support resulting in patients not seeing the same DR to continue care; being "put on hold" from care when Consultants leave; clinic letters taking weeks to be typed; results not given; appointments not made....it seems to be a shambles over the last 6 - 9 months; I work in the NHS and I know how a department should run..

The neurosciences unit recently experienced the unexpected departure of one of their neurologists, which resulted in the need to move some patients on to another consultant’s list to continue their care. We are pleased that many of the issues you mention have now been resolved. We acknowledge there has been a delay in the typing of clinic letters, but this matter has also been resolved following further recruitment and letters are currently being sent within a week of the patient’s appointment. I hope this addresses your concerns and I am sorry about the temporary disruption to this service. If you would like to discuss the matter further, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
