"Eye Care for my Mother"

About: Leighton Hospital

I represent my mother who is 86 and has needed a cataract operation. She was referred by a local optician and then waited for several months for her turn to come. The date arrived but the procedure was abandoned due to a complication which after several more weeks including cancellations by the Hospital, was sorted out. She was promised by the Consultant that her cataract operation would then take place in time for Summer but another check instead was carried out instead some weeks later. This was also cleared for the operation to go ahead. Again instead of the operation it appears another check has been scheduled for the end of July. She is absolutely distraught by all the delays and trying to get hold of someone to explain talk her through things. She now talks about going private so she can see again (she has no lens in the affected eye) to enjoy the Summer. Why should she have to go private??
