"Care of a family member"

About: Sunderland Royal Hospital

We would like to express our thanks to the nurses doctors and all staff at the sunderland royal hospital, after a long illness my Mother was brought into the hospital on the 13th of December with pneumonia, her condition didn't improve and mam was given the greatest care possible on ward e51, she was moved to a sideward and we stayed with her until the 19th of December when she passed away peacefully, our full family we're treat with great respect and we were offered discreet help and privacy in this very difficult time, even an offer by one of the young nurses to hold my mams hand while we had a cuppa, the care was first class, the ward sister was amazing and helped us say goodbye to my mam with ease, the sideward was set up with a candle and flowers after mam passed away, which in my opinion was just lovely. Thanks again

Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback of your family's experience on Ward E51. We are pleased to learn that your mother was cared for with respect and dignity in her last few days. Whilst the patient is always our priority, we must also consider the needs of their loved ones, particularly at such difficult times, and we are pleased that you and your family were looked after well and were able to stay on the ward as we know how much of a comfort that will have been to you all. Thank you once again.
