"Appalling experience"

About: The Maidstone Hospital

I was admitted to A & E at around midnight with chest pains. The night staff were excellent. My wife had come with me and the staff were good to both of us.They carried out various tests on me and served us both several cups of coffee. At 8 AM there was a shift change and the whole thing altered. The staff especially the sister were very rude to my wife who was nervous and crying. At 9.30 AM my wife went home as she could take no more rudeness. At 10 AM I was taken from my cubicle and placed in the corridor of A & E. I do not know why. I was left there until 2.10pm without any food or water. Then I was taken to another ward and hooked up to a heart monitor. The male nurse there was very kind and understanding. At 2.30pm a consultant came in and said I could go home. The transport arrived at 4 40pm. So I arrived home having had nothing to eat or drink for 10 hours to find my wife in tears still suffering from the trauma and abuse of the A & E day staff. What a terrible 16 hours
