My daughter has just given birth at Kettering General Hospital...She had problems with her pregnancy, so was admitted to a ward upstairs early for an induction... 24 hours after her induction started and she was in established labour. She was told at lunch time that she would be moved to Labour ward to have her waters broken,... and kept getting told she was in a queue and that there was someone before her to go down when a place became available...She wanted pain relief, but was told she could have some in labour ward. Then she was told they had a room for her, but no midwife... she eventually went down at 10 .30 that night! Her waters were broken and it was too late for pain relief...and the baby was born less than half an hour afterwards! It leaves you wondering that if she had had her waters broken at lunch time, would the baby have been born 10 hours earlier? The staff are fantastic...again, its lack of staff and resources...
