"Cataract procedure using nhs choices"

About: Boston NHS Treatment Centre

I arrived for my referral and was seen at the appointed time. After preliminary preparation I was seem by the Consultant who allowed me to fully participate in his decision making process. It was a wonderful surprise to learn that an afternoon operation slot was available and I jumped at the chance to fill it. The pre-op treatments were administered without any discomfort and were described fully as the nurse carried out the tasks. Later, entering the theatre area, I was greeted by a confident staff and a most professional and caring Consultant who explained what he was doing and what I might feel. For those that may be a little squeamish, you see only a bright light that varies in intensity and pattern during the 10-15 minute procedure. On completion I was escorted to the post procedure area and given tea, eye drops and welcome advice before being discharged. At every stage I was most positively encouraged to be part of the procedure rather than the subject of the procedure. One oh so minor criticism. Why did you not offer me an alcohol swab to wipe the indicator arrow from my forehead before leaving for home? Seriously, 9.999 out of 10. Thank you so very much.
