Last week I gave birth in the new birthing centre at Queens and could not have been more impressed with the experience. I was hesitant about having my baby at Queens after reading past reviews and media articles, but could not fault the level of care that we received from early emergency scans right up to the delivery and post natal care. The midwives supported my request for a water birth in the new suite with the triage nurse ensuring that she didn't do an internal exam when I went in when my waters broke, cause that would have meant that I had to be induced and wouldn't be able to have a water birth. When we returned to the hospital hours later the triage midwives again supported my request and called ahead to get the tub filled while we were on our way up to the ward. On the ward the midwives were fantastic and so caring. We were kept in for 24 hours cause there was concern that my baby wasn't feeding enough and during this time I was given assistance in breast feeding, which as a first time Mum was greatly appreciated. I would definitely recommend this unit to anyone expecting and going to Queens
"Amazing experience in new birthing centre"
