"Lack of car parking"

About: Cumberland Infirmary

(as a service user),

I have the misfortune to have to attend this hospital for regular outpatient appointments and there are never enough free parking spaces. For a 9 a. m. appointment it is vital to arrive by 8 a. m. (and have to pay for two hours). Today I arrived 35 minutes early for my appointment and after driving round the car parks for 25 minutes I had no option but to park in the staff car park which does not sit well with me. I had an appointment with the Breast Care Clinic which I was not going to miss at any cost. If the 'old' hospital which has been disused for many years was demolished this would free a space for ample parking.

I am a regular at the anti-coagulant clinic which I find outstanding

Thank you for taking the time and trouble to provided your feedback. We are currently reviewing car parking arrangements on the site which will include introducing a more rigorous approach to the management of car parking. We will also produce a draft car parking policy accordingly to assist with this. Capacity will also be reviewed as we clearly require more spaces and we are currently developing plans for this. We are also discussing our trust-wide travel plan with the bus companies to assist with travel arrangements for our staff. We hope this is helpful and reassures you that we are taking action.
