, I am pleased to say that I have nothing but praise for the treatment I have recently received in this hospital, in the care of the Surgical Assessment Unit, the Intensive Care Unit, and subsequently the E Wards. At the beginning of October following delayed diagnosis by my holidaying doctor’s locum, I was rushed directly to the Surgical Assessment Unit as an emergency, where thanks to the prompt action, care and expertise of their Senior Specialist, I was saved more serious surgery since he was able to effect the result he wanted through keyhole surgery. I am sure you can imagine how grateful I am. I was in hospital from 3rd October until 25th October and I would like everyone apprehensive of going in for surgery to know that at every stage of my stay I was treated with the utmost kindness, compassion and consideration. My wishes for as much privacy as possible were met as far as treatment would allow, and all the staff were cheerful, patient and tireless in their efforts to ensure that everything possible was being done to hasten my recovery and keep me as comfortable as they could. Had I paid for treatment privately, - which I had said at the outset I was prepared to do if necessary - I could not have had any better care.
