"AnE service"

About: Royal Blackburn Hospital

Anything else?

I don't usually complain but the treatment I received today I felt wasn't very good at all. It leaves me with very little confidence in the Blackburn hospital and I was in a vulnerable state. I attended my GP this morning who diagnosed me with kidney infection and told me if the pain worsened then I should attend the hospital. He could tell I was in discomfort and pain. I gradually got worst throughout the day and felt attending hospital was necessary. I have had UTI before but it has never been as painful and uncomfortable as this was. So I checked in at AnE and was very groggy and struggling to walk. I checked in at the desk to which I saw someone I knew from school who was there with her cousin for a suspected broken finger. In the waiting room ( around an hour and half) I still hadn't been seen too. I fainted. My boyfriend asked a couple to grab someone and the girl spoke to reception. Apparently they weren't in much rush to help me however I was blanked out at this point. They got me a chair and couldn't find me a bay as it was all full up. I felt humiliated and really ill at this point sat up still. Eventually I was put in a booth to where a nurse left me with someone who doesn't take assessments because they where understaffed. She checked my blood pressure and pulse. She left the room and left the patient record in with us. We was there I over an hour until my boyfriend went out and asked for some pain relief because I was still writhing in pain. The nurse said ohh have you not been seen yet? Anyhow after a further 20 mins the doc finally attended and said what happened? I said I fainted, he said why did you faint I said because I'm in a lot of pain and I can't cope we it any longer. He asked what was prescribed to me earlier so I showed him. He said nah they aren't any good they are cheap rubbish. Il prescribe you some proper antibiotics and some stronger painkillers. That was it. I felt vulnerable and was in absolute discomfort and pain and was made to feel like he just wanted to get shut of me. I hardly ever go to the hospital and wouldn't like to go up there and put my trust in care. The AnE department is terribly understaffed, there is no room loads of people where all over the corridors and it has left me with little faith in the Blackburn Royal. I pay for my prescriptions I'm hard working and didn't like how I was made to feel today it upset me and made me feel not welcome or cared for.
