What I liked

I am writing to congratulate your hospital and staff for the first class treatment I received during my stay for a knee replacement operation. The surgeon,who performed the operation and his team were excellent. From the first time I met the surgeon he gave me 100% confidence, which I believe is necessary for anyone anticipating going in hospital for an operation. I have witnessed other friends of mine who have had knee replacements at other hospitals and I can assure you my procedure was far superior with the neatness of the scare, which is there for everyone to see. I feel that this speaks for it’s self. I had no problems with my operation and I was not at all apprehensive as I had great confidence in the surgeon and his theatre team. The surgeon and his houseman came to see me on the ward after the operation and explained and answered my questions, which I thought was a nice caring touch and at the same time gave me reassurance.

The Care on the Ward

The care that I received on the ward could not have been better if I was a private patient, with nothing being too much trouble for any of the nursing staff. The staff treated everyone with curtsey and respect and they were very caring What came over for me was the relationship that existed between the Surgeon, Doctors Sisters and Nurses, they all seem to work as a team with very good relationships between them all and I think this would have come over to other patients on the ward. The service that I received was definitely 100%

What a wonderful after care this service has been for me personally, for I was in my home environment, which definitely contributed to my fast recovery, it was also nice and re-assuring to know that help was always at hand; when and if I needed it. I personally believe that this service put the icing on the cake and I believe it left me with a happy recollection of Russells Hall Hospital; I will shout and praise your hospital from the roof-tops.

Cleaning

Every day the wards were inspected by a supervisor before the cleaners came in, and then they were inspected and checked after the cleaning was completed. The hygiene in the hospital was of the highest order, I felt completely safe.

My final observation

Russells Hall Hospital Ward B. If you were a football team I would definitely be a supporter, for every great team has to have good management leadership with the players, which in turn creates good harmony throughout the team. Players will only respect good fair leadership and I think the surgeon provides this leadership, which I believe is transferred down through the nursing ranks and throughout the team, with everyone committed to the patients recovery.

It was a pleasure to be in such a wonderful caring hospital, which was in my personal opinion faultless. The hospital kept me well informed and I new exactly what to expect with regards to my operation from start to finish.

Thank you for the care and attention that was given to me whilst in Russells Halls Hospital.

What could be improved

Personally for me "Not a thing" everything was well thoughtout and ran like a wellorganised business.

My comment on improvement would be"to invite other hospital to vist Russells Hall and see how hospitals should be organised.
