Anything else?
The Emergency services were excellent but I was surprised that the attending paramedics (who I do not criticise and who were otherwise excellent) were unaware that Appendicitis is possible at the age of 68! My husband's condition turned out to be a classic Appendicitis which was subsequently dealt with. I was less impressed with the A+E Doctor on duty. His appearance was rather casual and grubby for a Doctor and the intravenous needle he inserted came out spraying blood all over the bed. The record of an Ultrasound Scan having been performed in A+E did not reach the Ward and the staff were unaware that a scan had been done. As this scan showed a gallstone this is likely to result in a duplication of effort and cost. The hospital generally appeared clean, certainly an improvement on visits in previous years, but the toilets near the hospital entrance were not so good.
