I visited an elderly family member today in hospital she was brought in by ambulance recently.
I visited 8 days after admittance, service on the ward is appalling when we arrived she was stuck in a corner bed by the window that was wide open. She is disabled and has no use of her legs so was unable to shut it. Her feet were blue and she was freezing.
She had been in there 7 days she was still in the same gown she had on the first night. She was not offered a shower or bed bath. It is disgraceful that they have just left her.
When I arrived today I had to take her to the shower myself and get her clean. Not one member of staff asked if I was ok or needed help (as thats what they get paid for) bearing in mind she has no use of her legs as she has an electric wheel chair at home.
So I had to lift her, wash her, dress her on my own. She had no water on the table.
I have never been so disgusted in my life. I understand that they are busy but I am sorry there is no need for it. We pay our tax so expect a bit more.
